Press FILM SUSSEX March 2008 BLACKGULL STUDIOS
3P Media UK Ltd continues to invest heavily in the UK Broadcast Industry through their latest initiative Blackgull Studios. The facility has not yet been officially opened, but has already had its first batch of clients through the door, in the form of a community film project, supported by the BBC and a local Youth programme. The crew utilised the flexible studio space to shoot their interior links for a community consultation documentary.

Already interest in the space is growing and full potential usage targets will be reached in a very short space of time. The multi-purpose space can be changed in minutes from a TV studio, complete with green screen facility and over head lighting, to a rehearsal space for a band. Groups can both practice and record in the bright airy environment, as can individuals who, for instance, want to run classes.
Photographers have not been overlooked either. Both amateur and professionals will be able to hire the space per hour, which comes complete with a changing room area and kitchen sink! |
On a serious note, the primary aim of the facility is to offer young people in the community the opportunity to learn various aspects of studio recording, as well as radio broadcasting .The facility has an integral sound booth, that boasts a door which came out of a disused MTV Studio in London (it took four men to lift it up the stairs!
Live radio web casts should soon be online and DJs from a wide range of music genres are queuing up to ply their trade – all night sessions kicking off soon. Feelings are, many music genres are under represented and a strong emphasis will be directed toward new talent – both as DJs and bands. |
Already a new local production initiative is going to be using the studio to launch a battle of the bands competition that will be open to talent across the South East of the UK and London. Winners will get to use the studio free for a day to record up to four tracks. Plus, opportunities to have a music video made for them will also be in the offing. Located in Bognor is not such a bad thing – costs will be the main attraction and the close proximity the studio has to mainline railway links is an added bonus. The costs of recording in, say London, may be prohibitive to many new groups on the music scene. However, Blackgull is fully prepared to meet the market demands with flexible tariffs that start from just £10 per hour, offered as a first time introductory rate for dry hire only. Normal fees for hiring the studio space only will run out at £20-25 per hour with reductions for regular and multiple bookings. |

| Film makers between Brighton and Southampton will have easy, quick and affordable access to a studio environment that can be used in a number of ways. For chat shows to special effects, using the drop down green screen and various combinations of lighting options. This facility has been designed with new content for IPTV broadcasting in mind. Low budget is the word and here is the solution to many film maker’s overheads. |

Not surprising then that the latest production initiatives coming out of Bognor Regis has found a convenient niche in the studio. Be Right Back TV, although located in Bognor Regis, has global impact, as it is not just a community internet broadcast platform. The new website www.berightbacktv.co.uk hosts hundreds of short films with a format that affords the audiences easy and informative access to a wealth of international short films. A special local section will be developed as a community service and expect to see a wide range of programmes hosted from the studio. This initiative creates opportunities to arts and business concerns in the town to create a platform from which to advertise, inform and educate. The potential is limitless.
Film screenings will also soon be a regular part of the studio. Film Production Companies will be able to hire the facility to watch trailers, samples and rough cuts of work, or to show reel content to potential clients. Long term, an art house audience will be developed with regular screenings of cult and classic World, European and British films.
A dedicated web site for the studio is being built www.blackgullstudios.co.uk which should soon be on-line.
Meanwhile, for more information regarding bookings and hire, please call Sam Gartside on 01243 868653 or 07826 716737.
